£1.25m improvements to Rugeley Leisure Centre

Cannock Chase Council, in partnership with Inspiring Healthy Lifestyles (IHL) and the Football Foundation are investing £1.25m to improve facilities at Rugeley Leisure Centre. Improvement works include, the installation of a new heating, hot water and energy system within the centre; this work is a prerequisite to the recommissioning of the swimming pool. The swimming pool will be retiled and recommissioned as part of the new pool plant and water treatment systems. This work is scheduled to complete at the end of August 2021. Read More...

Following official government advice issued yesterday (Monday 16 March) on how we can slow the spread of Coronavirus, we regret to announce that Rugeley Rose Theatre & Community Hall will be closed with immediate effect until further notice. Rugeley Fringe Festival and Rugeley Charter Fair will also no longer take place. Town Council meetings are also cancelled until further notice. It is hoped that we will be able to rearrange the Fringe and Charter Fair for later this year and updates will be posted here on a regular basis. Read More...

Fraudsters cold calling the elderly

We are reminding residents to be on their guard following reports of several incidents where cold callers have phoned elderly victims with the intention of obtaining money. Our advice would be to never confirm or provide personal and/or financial information over the phone and to end the call immediately. Please ensure the elderly and vulnerable are aware of this advice. Incidents have been reported where fraudsters have phoned residents advising them that they owe large sums of money. The callers can be quite aggressive and sometimes threatening in their approach. If you receive such a call end the call immediately and report it to Action Fraud on 0300 123 2040 or 999 if they have stated they are sending someone to your home to collect the money. Read More...

Hagley Fields flood risk management update

The works during July and early August have included top soiling the top part of the field, sheet piling at the core of the embankment and starting the construction of the pedestrian footbridge on the heritage trail. The foundations of the bridge have been laid, the pipes set and the main structure of the bridge has been set in place (see photo on right). We are considering the options for the brick finish. Whole bricks are now the preferred option and the finish will be similar to the old bridge. Read More...
